Below are answers to common questions about registration, evaluations, programs, and club policies. If you don’t see your question here, we are happy to help.
Do all players need to attend tryouts or evaluations?
No. Evaluations are required only for placement on Competitive Academy teams (U10 & U12). Players interested in Development Programs, Camps & Clinics, or Individual Training do not need to attend evaluations.
Who should attend evaluations?
Evaluations are appropriate for players who:
Are interested in U10 or U12 Competitive Academy teams
Enjoy structured training and regular competition
Are ready for increased commitment and accountability
Both current Beach Saint-Germain players and new players are welcome.
How do I register for evaluations?
All players must pre-register online prior to attending evaluations. Registration links, dates, and locations are posted on the Evaluations page.
Is there an evaluation fee?
Evaluation fees, if applicable, are listed during registration. Evaluation fees are non-refundable.
Does attending evaluations guarantee placement on a Competitive Academy team?
No. Participation in evaluations does not guarantee placement. Some players may be recommended for:
Development Programs
Continued development prior to competitive placement
Can players move from Development Programs to the Competitive Academy later?
Yes. Player progression between pathways is possible and encouraged as players grow and demonstrate readiness, based on coach observation and development.
EVALUATIONS & TRYOUT EXPERIENCE
What should my child bring to evaluations?
Players should bring:
Soccer cleats
Shin guards
Water bottle
Appropriate training attire
Players should arrive early to allow time for check-in.
What do coaches look for during evaluations?
Coaches assess:
Technical ability and comfort on the ball
Decision-making and game awareness
Confidence and creativity
Effort, attitude, and coachability
Ability to apply skills in game-like situations
Physical size or early maturity alone is not the primary factor.
What is the evaluation environment like?
Evaluations are conducted in a positive, supportive, and development-focused environment. Players are encouraged to express themselves and play with confidence.
Are evaluations about winning or scoring goals?
No. Evaluations are not focused on results or statistics. Coaches are interested in how players play, not just outcomes.
How many evaluation sessions should my child attend?
Players are encouraged to attend all scheduled sessions when possible, as multiple sessions provide a more complete evaluation.
When and how will we hear about placement decisions?
Families will be contacted after the evaluation period with:
Placement decisions, or
Recommendations for next steps
Communication is provided as clearly and promptly as possible.
